We are proud to announce that we have won a Best Companies for Women Comparably award! This award reflects our ever-growing commitment to providing equal opportunity for our employees.

“It is important to understand the sentiment of women and how they feel about their workplaces relative to men,” said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar. “Our annual Best Companies for Women list recognizes the top organizations that female employees rated as collectively having the best attributes for fair pay, career advancement opportunities, benefits, and more.”

Like many industries, the system integration industry has had a historically male-dominated workforce. Automation Group sees the value in having all people on-board to drive the success of the company. We hire based on attitude and aptitude. We see the potential success of a hire, and all details beyond that are trivial.

“At other companies, I was addressed by ‘the girl’ or ‘the lady’. It took 3 years for them to see what I could do.” Karla Osuna-Ruiz is the first female in our Project Manager’s Office. When she came on board less than a year ago as a Controls Engineer II, she quickly scaled the ranks. At her previous company, she was held back from opportunities because of her gender. “At Automation Group, I was instantly respected. In meetings, I can freely voice my opinion and be heard. I am treated and supported like any man in the company, and I am addressed by my name and title, not by my gender.”

Automation Group employees in each department anonymously reviewed the company on Comparably.com. The reviews publicly provide curious browsers with perception reports of the company’s CEO, culture and diversity. Winners were determined based on a number of questions employees answered regarding the topic (in true/false, yes/no, 1-10 scale, or multiple choice). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to similar size companies for fairness and accuracy.

100% of female employees of Automation Group that responded rated their work environment as positive.

Hiring and promoting women alongside their male counterparts has a positive impact, but we must be cognizant to ensure company culture has a positive impact on all employees. Respect is a value that is a cornerstone of Automation Group’s success. When respect is consistently understood and honestly lived, it’s easy to be respectful towards women.

“I enjoy working for a company that supports me in my career goals as well as my personal life.” In 2012, Kelly Love, Director of Sales and Estimating, started working at Automation Group as an intern. Her hard work was recognized as she advanced to Sales Engineer, Sales Manager then to her current position. Her responsibility expanded as she grew Automation Group’s northern territory, consisting of Sacramento, and Napa locations. During this time, she has also grown her family, this year welcoming her first child. “In the weeks leading up to my maternity leave, my responsibilities were shifted to the Vice President of the company and key team members. The transition was seamless, and when I returned, the process was as simple and stress-free as when I left.”

We are proud of this award and look forward to the success of all our current and future employees. Automation Group will always have seats at the conference table for men and women.
